Act Cover Only
Motor Insurance

Today, no insurance company issues the "Act Cover Only" motor insurance policy.

The cover that used to be provided under this policy was liability to third parties for bodily injuries occurring only on public roads. This did not include the passengers in the vehicle nor the owner or members of the owner's household.

However, passengers carried for hire or rewards were covered. Therefore, it was mandatory for all vehicles used for fare paying passengers to have passenger liability.

These vehicles included:

  1. Taxis
  2. Self drive hire vehicles with or without a driver
  3. Matatus
  4. Mini Buses
  5. Buses

You have to be aware that if you give your neighbours a lift and you charge the neighbours, you must disclose this to your insurers. Failure to do so, will mean that you do not have passengers' liability cover for your neighbours.

We recommend that private buses and mini buses and institution vehicles that carry passengers should have passenger liability insurance.

Now, it is your turn.

Please help us to further improve our services either with your needs, questions, comments or feedback.
